South End Press - Logo & Collateral
As a non-profit book publisher whose goal is to encourage critical thinking and constructive action, the South End Press needs a logo that is bold and identifiable but also represents their ideals. The logo I created is composed of a simple light bulb with an interior filament resembling an open book. These two elements alone express South End Press’ fundamental philosophy; the light bulb stresses the importance of critical thinking and the power of ideas while the book/filament signifies the spark that ignites these ideas. To reinforce the influence these books have on people, I rendered a human profile on the right side of the bulb, looking to the future.
